Just in time for the official start of training on Wednesday morning, the current squad numbers for the Eintracht Frankfurt first team have been confirmed. All the players who wore the eagle on their chest in the 2023/24 campaign have retained their shirt numbers.
New signings given numbers
Along with players who were previously on loan or have been promoted to the first team, a new quartet have arrived in Frankfurt over the summer in Aurèle Amenda, Nathaniel Brown, Can Uzun and Krisztián Lisztes. Amenda inherits the number 5 left by Hrvoje Smolcic, who has joined LASK on loan; Uzun takes the number 18 from Jessic Ngankam, who’s been loaned to Hannover 96; Brown has opted for 21, last worn by Lucas Alario; and Lisztes the number 23 shirt, which belonged to Jens Petter Hauge, who is on loan at FK Bodø until the winter.
Back in the heart of Europe are Faride Alidou, Jérôme Onguéné, Igor Matanovic and Marcel Wenig. The latter has been given 28 back. Like he did at Karlsruhe, Igor Matanovic will wear the number 9, vacated by Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Sasa Kalajdzic. Onguéné takes over 41 from Simon Simoni, who’s moved to Ingolstadt on loan, and Alidou gets 42 following a year at 1. FC Köln.
