The Eagles' preparations for the 2018/19 campaign are already in full swing, and after three training sessions and one friendly, the pre-season work will really get going as new head coach Adi Hütter takes his squad to America for their first training camp together.
The trip across the Atlantic also means the return of the SGEagles. Last summer’s visit to the States saw Eintracht take in Seattle, San Jose, Columbus and Chula Vista (San Diego).
Friendlies against RSL and the Union
The Eagles depart Frankfurt Airport at 11:00 CEST on Saturday. The first stop of their eight-day training camp will be Salt Lake City, the capital of the state of Utah, where SGE can expect temperatures of over 30 degrees in the city that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. Eintracht will train at the state-of-the-art RSL Academy while also taking on MLS side Real Salt Lake in a friendly on 10 July at 20:00 local time (04:00 CEST). The game will be played at the 20,213-capacity Rio Tinto Stadium.
There will only be one change of location during this tour, with the squad flying to Philadelphia on the east coast on 12 July. Here the DFB Cup winners will meet Philadelphia Union, formerly coached by Eintracht legend Oka Nikolov, for a friendly on Saturday 14 July at 19:00 local time (01:00 CEST) at the 18,500-capacity Talen Energy Stadium. Hütter’s charges will begin their journey home on Sunday 15 July, the day of the World Cup final, landing back on German soil early on Monday morning.
