The Eagles v Blues preview

The final home game in 2017 is on and it will take place on Saturday against second ranked Schalke.

Eintracht Frankfurt – FC Schalke 04

  • Kick-off: Saturday (16 December 2017), 15.30 CET
  • Venue: Commerzbank Arena, Frankfurt
  • Referee: Dr Robert Kampka (13 Bundesliga games, 61 Bundesliga 2 games)

Build-Up

The Eagles are keen to keep the points in Frankfurt on Saturday and to put the icing on the cake of a positive first season half that way. They have been unbeaten in six successive home games against S04 (W3 D3), the last defeat in Frankfurt dates back to 2010. The 24 home wins against Gelsenkirchen are SGE's club top record.

Left defender Basti Oczipka only left Frankfurt for Schalke in the summer after five years at Eintracht. Their goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann played at SGE between 2009 and 2011 while two Eagles have been at S04 in their past: Kevin-Prince Boateng (2013-2015) and Danny Blum (youth teams 2007-2009).

Attendance

49,000 tickets had been sold until Thursday. If another 1,000 will be purchased Eintracht will hit a new record as they never averaged a 50,000 home attendance in the first season half before.
