SGE go down to Servette FC (3-4)

Today, despite scoring three goals, the Eagles lost a test match against Servette FC, a second league football club from Geneva. Even though it snowed heavily, 1,500 supporters in Frankfurt’s Commerzbank Arena watched the friendly one week before the second half of the Bundesliga season starts.

Eintracht’s test match opponent, Servette FC, are a Swiss football club based in Geneva. They are currently ranked 3rd in the Swiss Challenge League, the second-highest tier of the Swiss football system.

With chances by Piazon (10’) and Stendera (free-kick, 14’), the Eagles dominated the match right away. However, the guests from Switzerland were the first to score. Due to a brace by Roux (25’, 26’), Servette FC were two goals ahead after half an hour. Nevertheless, the Eagles kept on creating quite decent goalscoring chances, and finally, they were able to bring in the harvest. Kadlec, who had come on the pitch for Meier, was fouled in the box, enabling Seferovic to kick the penalty in – 1-2 (40’). Only four minutes later, it was again Seferovic who leveled the score.

In the second half, Eintracht continued to be the better team, with Aigner nosing the Eagles in front after 54 minutes. However, Servette FC proved to be very effective in front of Frankfurt’s goal. Even though the guests only had few chances, both Avanzini (57’) and Sauthier (61’) found the back of the net, putting the Swiss in front again. Despite many chances, Eintracht were not able to strike back once more.
