SGE-F95: Facts & Figures

It's been a while since the Eagles met Düsseldorf in the top flight but there are plenty of talking points. We did the weekly number crunching ahead of the home match on Saturday (kick-off at 15.30h CET).

HISTORY

  • Eintracht have a good overall Bundesliga record against Düsseldorf: W21, D12, L10 and even more so at home (W15, D5, L1).
  • Both teams achieved all time Bundesliga records at the start of the season: SGE won their first 4 games (the first promoted team to do so), Düsseldorf didn't concede a goal in their first 5 matches (also unseen before of a promoted side).
  • The Eagles lost only 1 of 21 home matches against Fortuna, 33 years ago (2-1 in January 1980).
  • There was a player sent off in each of the last 3 encounters of SGE and F95.
  • Eintracht scored 95 Bundesliga goals so far against F95.
  • The last BL home match against F95 was in 1995 - Schupp, Okocha and Hagner scored, the Eagles won 3-0.
  • None of the Bundesliga encounters between SGE and Fortuna ended with a goalless draw.
  • SGE scored 26-6 goals in their last 10 home matches against Düsseldorf (W7, D3 - 6 clean sheets).

SEASON

  • Eintracht have the 2nd best defense in 2013 (only 15 goals conceded, as Mainz), only Bayern conceded fewer goals (7).
  • The Eagles managed 6 clean sheets in 14 games since the winter break.
  • SGE still record the 2nd best duel success rate in the league (51.6% duels won).
  • Fortuna have not recorded a win in 9 games and have also a run of 12 away games without winning (the only Bundesliga team without an away win in 2013).
  • Only 2 Bundesliga teams recorded more bookings than Fortuna (67).

INDIVDUALS

  • Fortuna manager Norbert Meier suffered a 9-2 defeat in his first match against Eintracht as a player (with Werder Bremen in Frankfurt, November 1981).
  • Frankfurt's defender Bamba Anderson had 32 Bundesliga 2 appearances for Düsseldorf in 2009/10 (3 goals).
  • Eintracht's CEO Heribert Bruchhagen was born in Düsseldorf.
  • SGE mascot Attila the Eagle celebrated its 9th birthday in the week.
  • Jürgen Grabowski scored the very 1st Bundesliga for Eintracht against Düsseldorf (4-2 away in 1966).
