The Eagles were back on the pitch for the first time since the summer break on Wednesday morning, taking part in their first training session of pre-season after two days of performance tests on Monday and Tuesday.
They were also kitted out in adidas gear for the first time. The coaching team were dressed in white, the players in back and the goalkeepers in red, with each outfit emblazoned with the famous three stripes of the sports manufacturer from Herzogenaurach.
Eighteen outfield players and three goalkeepers were put through their paces under the watchful eye of Toppmöller and his staff, including new signing Jonny Burkardt. “I could immediately sense how fired up the lads were after the break,” said Pirmin Schwegler, Eintracht’s head of professional football, in a live interview with Eintracht TV. Schwegler added there was “great excitement” among the squad, while former Eagles player Alexander Schur, who helped cover the live stream on Wednesday morning, said: “I really like the look of this team.”
