Sébastien Haller: “An experience I’d love to repeat”

Sébastien Haller spoke to us on the first evening in Switzerland about his current form, his goals with Eintracht and his taste for European football.

Sébastien Haller on…

…his time off: “It was really good. We needed it – last season was a long and very emotional one. It was important for us to have some proper downtime. We travelled around, including going to Tokyo. My wife, who is pregnant at the moment, and I like Japan and the people there. We met Goncalo and Makoto there.”

…the start of training: “We’ve had some good sessions together and are looking forward to the training camp. The conditions in Switzerland will be ideal.”

…the training camp: “We will be focussing on the sessions here because we need to work really hard. In three weeks, we’ve got our first competitive match of the season. We want to qualify for the Europa League again – that’s an experience I’d love to repeat. So hopefully we’ll have six weeks where we have to play twice, and that means that we need to be focused right from the off.”

…his form: “I feel good and I’m ready for some hard work. I think everyone feels the same way. We’re up for it, and there’s a good atmosphere in the changing rooms and out on the pitch. I’m happy to be here. What we manage to achieve will depend on how we come through pre-season. We have the potential, but what we can actually achieve won’t become clear until we’re a few months in.”

…Dejan Joveljic: “I’ve only known him for a few hours (laughs). We’ve got plenty of time to get to know one another.

…speaking German:
“I’m going to improve. I know that I’ve got to put the work in. English is easier though (laughs).”
