Two of Eintracht’s summer signings were the first to begin the screening marathon at the ProfiCamp at Deutsche Bank Park on Monday, with Jérôme Onguéné and Randal Kolo Muani checking in at 8:00 CEST.
The comprehensive examinations lasted almost four hours, including breaks, as medical staff left no stone unturned. The players completed a total of 10 stations, each one typically lasting over 20 minutes, while the one-hour performance diagnostics took the most amount of time. They also had checks in the areas of orthopaedics, echocardiography, body scans, vision and hearing, while there was even a dentist present.
Head coach Oliver Glasner, meanwhile, said at his first press conference that almost all of the 18 players present were fit enough to participate in training. The only exception was Aurélio Buta, whose knee injury means “he won't be able to play until September”, before adding that “if no one falls off the treadmill today, everyone will be here tomorrow.” That’s when the first official training session starts at 11:00 CEST. It will open to the public, and will also be broadcast live on EintrachtTV.
National team players have not yet returned to training, but will do for the most part from next Monday. Daichi Kamada will be back on Tuesday 5 July; Filip Kostic and Kevin Trapp another two days later.
