The term “international break” can be misleading, as Eintracht head coach Dino Toppmöller made clear after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with 1. FC Köln, “We’re looking forward to using the coming days to work on content,” he said. “We won’t be keeping busy for the sake of it but working with the lads on their attacking structure, along with a few defensive issues.”
The 18 Eagles players involved in training on Tuesday – including three goalkeepers in Jens Grahl, new signing Kauã Santos and U19 custodian Melvin Hellmann – were certainly in high spirits. In late summer temperatures of 25C, the Eintracht squad put their heart and soul into physical and technical drills. Also involved were U21 strikers Ignacio Ferri Julià, 18, and Noel Futkeu, 20, who are training with the first team this week.
While Kristijan Jakic was also back on the pitch after recovering from concussion, Mario Götze and Robin Koch – whose workloads are being managed this week – got to work in the ProfiCamp gym near Deutsche Bank Park.
