“Only worrying about ourselves”

Oliver Glasner is fully focused on Freiburg and provides an update on Rode, Max and Jakic.

Oliver Glasner on...

…the state of play: “I have a very good feeling going into the match. I’m very pleased with this week’s training. The team are pumped up and committed, there’s a good mix of fun and seriousness. We’re unbeaten at home in the league and cup in 2023, the approach is clear: we’re going to give it all we’ve got to win and we want to make the most of our chance to climb to sixth or seventh place.”

…the table: “We’re only worrying about ourselves. The key thing is that we win our match. We want to give the fans a great send-off at Deutsche Bank Park – they deserve that. The team do too.“

…opponents SC Freiburg: “Freiburg are still playing for Champions League qualification. They‘re very stable, they’re always compact and in Christian Streich they have an outstanding coach who always sets his team up well. They mirrored us in a 3-4-3 in the reverse fixture – we’ll see what they do this time. They’re very dangerous from set pieces and have a good taker in [Vincenzo] Grifo.”

Sebastian Rode is a doubt after suffering a knock to his ankle.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…the team news: “Sebastian Rode is a doubt after suffering a knock to his ankle. Philipp Max and Kristijan Jakic are fortunately back in training and are getting closer to the team. They definitely don’t have 90 minutes in them yet, but a few minutes are always possible. The current progress is very positive.”

…Jesper Lindström: “Jesper has been livelier in training this week. The pain has lessened, which is important for him to clear his head. He’ll get some game time, but I don’t know how much yet.”

…Almamy Toure: “Almamy has been injured a lot, unfortunately. He’ll always be the player who put his body on the line for 120 minutes in 40C in Seville. He’s fit again now. He might play another final for Eintracht.”
