Eintracht

“Shame the best fans in the Bundesliga won’t be there”

Like Eintracht, Niko Kovac’s in-form Monaco face big-name opponents this weekend. The man who guided the Eagles to DFB Cup glory still keeps a keen eye on his former club.

Niko, how did you manage to turn things around at Monaco and guide them into a very respectable fourth place?
“The team’s development in recent months has been very good. The lads are fit and working hard. We’ve made changes in the last few months. It’s a transformation period and a process.”

Will you follow Eintracht’s game against Bayern?
“Unfortunately I’ll be with my team on a plane to Paris. It’s always difficult against Bayern. It’s a shame the best fans in the world won’t be there.”

I’m a lifelong member and for that reason, among others, I still have a strong connection with SGE.

How do you follow the Eagles?
“Very closely, of course. I’m still in touch a lot with Frankfurt and still root for them. I’m a lifelong member and for that reason, among others, I still have a strong connection with SGE.”

What do you make of Eintracht’s development?
“I’m very pleased with the development after our cup victory. Adi Hütter has built on what we established. It’s great fun to follow Eintracht and it’d be really brilliant if that path leads them back into Europe. You hope so for the wonderful fans. I’m crossing my fingers.”
