Rode returns, Toure up and running

The captain is back in training just in time for the DFB Cup game in Mannheim.

Twenty outfield players and three goalkeepers took part in training on Tuesday as preparations began in earnest for Sunday’s trip to Waldhof Mannheim in the DFB Cup. New Eintracht captain Sebastian Rode was also involved, having recently been absent due to a knee complaint, while Jesper Lindström was also back with the squad after recovering from muscular issues.

However, Almamy Toure and Ragnar Ache each trained individually and jogged laps of the pitch. Martin Pecar is still building up his fitness, and Ajdin Hrustic remains unavailable following his positive COVID-19 test. Ali Akman and Rodrigo Zalazar were likewise both absent having been granted permission to speak to other clubs regarding potential loan moves.

Eintracht midfielder Djibril Sow.

Djibril Sow was fit, healthy and back with his colleagues, though, following his break after participating at UEFA Euro 2020, and he is eagerly looking forward to the 2021/22 campaign: “I’m really happy to be back here and to be playing under a coach who can help me develop further. That’s why I’m really motivated for the new season. The playing style suits me well. We make the most of every session and do a lot of video work. I like that a lot.”
