Robin Koch in action

The Eintracht defender was brought on an hour into Germany’s goalless draw with Ukraine and will hope to feature in Friday’s pre-EURO friendly against Greece.

Monday evening’s game at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg was ticking towards the hour mark when the number 24 flashed up on the fourth official’s board. Eagles defender Robin Koch took the place of Jonathan Tah at the heart of defence as Germany, who failed to make the most of numerous goalscoring opportunities, had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Ukraine in the first of two friendlies ahead of UEFA EURO 2024.  It was Koch’s ninth appearance for Germany at senior level.

Up next for Julian Nagelsmann’s side is a friendly with Greece in Mönchengladbach, which kicks off at 20:45 CEST on Friday 7 June.

Elsewhere, Eintracht’s Simon Simoni was not involved as Albania cruised to a 3-0 friendly win over Liechtenstein.
