Robin Koch called up to Germany squad

The Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back returns to the Germany set-up after almost three years ahead of the team’s friendlies against France and Netherlands.

Robin Koch is back in the Germany squad. The centre-back forms part of a 26-man group selected by head coach Julian Nagelsmann for the team’s first fixtures of the calendar year ahead of hosting the 2024 European Championship.

Germany have friendlies against France in Lyon on Saturday 23 March (kick-off 21:00 CET) and on Tuesday 26 March against Netherlands in Frankfurt (kick-off 20:45 CET).

He deserves it given his consistently good performances.

“We’re delighted Robin Koch has been selected for the Germany squad,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “He deserves it given his consistently good performances. It’s an honour for us as a club as well, and shows that we have experienced internationals in our ranks alongside many young players.”

“In terms of his character, Robin Koch has matured from his time abroad,” explained Nagelsmann. “He’s very communicative, can guide his teammates and is currently one of the best tacklers in the Bundesliga. He’ll give everything in training and do his part in pushing others.” The head coach went on to say that Koch’s call-up was “a reward for the development he has shown”.
