It looked for a while as if Omar Marmoush’s Egypt would overcome Farès Chaibi’s Algeria, after Hamdi Fathi had given the Pharaohs the lead in the 62nd minute. Marmoush entered the fray seven minutes later, before Islam Slimani struck deep into added time (90’+3) to earn the Desert Foxes a 1-1 draw. Chaibi played the whole 90 minutes in the United Arab Emirates.
Sweden’s Euro 2024 qualifier in Belgium was abandoned due to safety concerns following a fatal shooting in Brussels city centre. After consultation with the two teams, the game was called off at half-time with the score at 1-1.
Germany U20s win in Dreieich
Germany U20s beat their Czech counterparts 4-2 in the Elite League. Eintracht’s Nnamdi Collins was brought on in the 72nd minute of the contest at the Ahorn Camp Sportpark in Dreieich.
