Hugo Ekitiké was all smiles in the sunshine on Thursday, the 22-year-old Frenchman clearly enjoying himself even in the warm-up. His laugh was infectious as the group turned what was meant to be a drill working on technique and getting a feel for the ball into a competitive exercise. The same atmosphere spilled over into the subsequent rondo, too.
Fenyö sidelined through illness
Eintracht played two friendlies on Wednesday: one a behind-closed-doors 4-1 win over TSV Steinbach Haigerthat was arranged at short notice, followed by a 5-2 success against FSV Frankfurt. As a result, the focus of Thursday morning’s training session on pitch four at Deutsche Bank Park was on recovery work.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller had ten outfield players and three goalkeepers available to him, while the rest of the team had a gym session at the ProfiCamp to manage their workload. Noah Fenyö was absent due to illness.
Friendly in Valencia
Eintracht’s next warm-up match is on Saturday 10 August at the Estadio Mestalla against Spanish first division side Valencia CF at 21:00 CEST. The game will be broadcast live on Eintracht TV.
