“Give everything they’ve got in the tank”

Oliver Glasner is in buoyant mood ahead of the trip to Stuttgart, with the head coach citing fitness, team spirit and a day off as reasons why.

Oliver Glasner on…

…preparing for the Stuttgart game: “We gave the lads the day off yesterday because it’s been a very intense couple of days. We’re obviously aiming for three points but we know it’s going to be an intense, competitive game.”

...Stuttgart: “VfB’s results don’t match their performances. They have a clear way of playing and very fast players in attack. We want to show the same spirit and energy we had in Marseille. It’s going to be an intense and competitive game, as it always is in the Bundesliga.”

…squad news: “Hasebe and Jakic have had some issues but have both indicated they’re available. Pellegrini has only been able to do light training on his own. We want to use our final period without a game to build up our capacities.”

It’s OK for players in unfamiliar positions to make the odd positional mistake, as long as everyone’s giving everything for the team.

Cheftrainer Oliver Glasner

…Sebastian Rode: “It’s always about weighing up chances and risks. We don’t want to take too big a risk. Sebastian is doing well but it wouldn’t be wise to have him hurtling around the pitch for 90 minutes because we don’t want to risk an injury.”

…Daichi Kamada: “Daichi can play in lots of different positions because he understands the game. He’s very intelligent and finds solutions with and without the ball. I’m very happy with him.“

…rotation: “We usually rotate, but within reason. We’ll select guys who have the desire and the ability to get through 90 minutes. I want the lads to give everything they’ve got in the tank and push the limits of their performance. It’s OK for players in unfamiliar positions to make the odd positional mistake, as long as everyone’s giving everything for the team.”
