“I wanted to get out of my comfort zone”

Farès Chaibi reveals why he decided to move to Eintracht and how he’s managed to settle in so quickly.

Farès Chaibi on...

...his move to Eintracht: “I’m happy to have come here. It’s a new challenge for me on the back of my first year as a professional. I could have spent another year with Toulouse, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. Moving to the Bundesliga is an interesting step. I’m going to work hard to be successful with the team. I’m enjoying the moment, want to produce my best performances on the pitch and achieve great things.”

...his first few weeks in Frankfurt: “I’ve settled in well. My family and I have already tried to explore the city a bit too – it’s a big, beautiful city. I’m feeling more and more settled in the team and I’m very happy. I hope it’ll continue like this. My assist against Aberdeen was another positive for me.”

As a midfielder, I have no problems defending and helping the team there as well. Attackers are the first line of defence.

...his position: “I’m a midfielder by trade. Because of injuries last season – my first as a professional – the coach played me on the left wing. I’m versatile and adjusted [to the role]. I’ll play wherever the coach feels I can help the team. As a midfielder, I have no problems defending and helping the team there as well. Attackers are the first line of defence.”

...the team: “We’re a newly assembled side and have a lot of new, young players in our ranks. We’re still lacking a bit of fluidity, but we’re on the right track and have a lot of potential. We also know there’s room for improvement. It’s just a matter of time before we become more successful.”

...his language skills: “There are a lot of French speakers in the team and several staff members also speak French, which is helping me settle in. I’m not fluent in English but can understand several words. I’m going to take German lessons at the club to improve my command of the language as quickly as possible.”
