Rasmus Kristensen joins Eintracht Frankfurt

The Danish international moves to Frankfurt on a season-long loan – with an option to buy – from English club Leeds United.

Rasmus Kristensen came through the ranks at FC Midtjylland’s youth academy and made his professional debut in 2016 at the age of 18. Two years later, he celebrated the Danish championship with the club. The right-back made 82 competitive appearances in total, registering seven goals and 16 assists. He then moved to Dutch giants Ajax, with whom he won the domestic double in his first full season, contributing one goal and six assists in 27 games.

That was followed by a fruitful switch to Salzburg in 2022, where he made a lasting impression. Kristensen made 109 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and setting up 19. He won the Austrian league and cup double in all three of his years at Salzburg, earning him a transfer to Leeds United. The 1.87-metre-tall defender played 26 games in the English Premier League (three goals, one assist) before joining AS Roma on loan last summer. He featured in 31 competitive games for the Italian outfit, recording one goal and two assists.

The Dane also has plenty of experience in UEFA competitions, having featured in 24 Champions League matches and 17 in the Europa League.

We were interested in Rasmus as far back as three years ago and are delighted that it’s now worked out.

The Central Jutland-born defender has won 21 senior caps for Denmark to date.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We were interested in Rasmus as far back as three years ago and are delighted that it’s now worked out. We had very good talks and sensed that he absolutely wanted to come to us. Rasmus is a robust, tough-tackling player, who’s an out-and-out right-back but can also play at centre-back.”

Rasmus Kristensen: “Today is a great day for me. I’m delighted that I’m now at Eintracht Frankfurt. I recently experienced the stadium in person at the European Championship and can’t wait to play here soon.”
