The United Colors of Frankfurt initiative was deservedly named fan campaign of the season by football magazine 11 Freunde. The campaign promotes diversity and takes a stand against discrimination and racism. The city, the club and the fans all thrive on diversity. Diversity is what makes them Eintracht (similar to the word ‘United’ in English) – hence the ‘United Colors of Frankfurt’.
50,000 Euros for a good cause
All 11,500 T-shirts with the ‘United Colors of Frankfurt’ logo were sold at the game against Hoffenheim. “A wonderful campaign which has been recognised across the country, and a great reflection on our fans,” said Eintracht board member Axel Hellmann during the donation hand-over last Saturday. The proceeds from the T-shirts are going to Teestube Jona, a charity for homeless people in the Bahnhofsviertel district of Frankfurt.
Ina Kobuschinski, chairwoman of the Eintracht fan club association, presented Nadine Müller, head of Teestube Jona, with a cheque of €35,000, while Axel Hellmann rounded up the sum with a further cheque of €15,000. “For us that’s an incredible amount of money,” commented Müller. “With that, we can build a shower and employ a new person. Many thanks to the fans of Eintracht Frankfurt.”
