…the start of the season: We're looking forward to finally getting started after five weeks of pre-season. We've used the time well and go into the new season fired up. We obviously want to win at Magdeburg in front of a full house."

… 1. FC Magdeburg: “They're a team with a clear idea of how they want to play football. They've got quick, nimble players up front who like going one-on-one and who are good at finding spaces. They're a very attacking side but they also allow opposing teams lots of shots at goal. You can clearly recognise the work their coach is doing.”

… personnel: “I'm assuming Kevin Trapp will be back in goal after his cold. Evan Ndicka trained without any problems for the first time this week. If that remains the case over the next few days then he'll travel to Magdeburg with us and will probably be in the starting line-up.
