Peter Fischer to end term of office early

After 23 years, Peter Fischer will vacate the position of Eintracht president at the 2024 general meeting.

Explaining his decision to step down, Fischer said: “I’ve put a lot of effort and energy into the club over the last 23 years. If someone had told me when I took office in 2000 what milestones we could look back on today, I certainly wouldn't have believed it. Together we have put Eintracht on a sound footing, both in sporting and financial terms. We’ve grown from 4,700 members back then to over 125,000 today, have built a modern sports training centre and made it clear what values we stand for. I’m extremely proud of this development of my Eintracht.

Together we have put Eintracht on a sound footing, both in sporting and financial terms.

But looking back, the 23 years have taken a lot out of me, also in terms of my health. In addition, the last few months have shown me very clearly that I have to look after and protect my family more intensively. I have always emphasised that I’m aware the private person Peter Fischer no longer exists. However, recent weeks have exceeded limits.”

He will therefore step down from the role and the operational business of Eintracht Frankfurt and remain with the club in a new capacity.

“Peter Fischer is the most successful president in the history of Eintracht,” said Felix Wirmer, chairman of the supervisory board. “His services to the club are immeasurable. On the basis of this, the supervisory board will propose to the honorary board that Peter Fischer be appointed honorary president at the upcoming general meeting.”
