40,000 came to the season opening party at Commerzbank Arena and enjoyed plenty of activities and great summer weather. For the match against FSV Frankfurt Niko Kovac made six changes in his starting line-up compared to Saturday's test against Real Betis. Jetro Willems, Danny Da Costa, Aymen Barkok, Branimir Hrgota, Daichi Kamada and Noel Knothe started, Marco Russ, David Abraham, Makoto Hasebe, Taleb Tawatha, Mijat Gacinovic and Luka Jovic were either on the bench or rested completely.
Kamada strikes back
Despite the changes the Eagles did not take long to grab hold of the match and one of the early attacks resulted in the lead scored by Daichi Kamada (7'); he scored with a cool finish from around 14 meters after following up a blocked attempt of Hrgota.
Eintracht kept coming and had further good scoring opportunities of Besuschkow, Haller and Willems. It was Hrgota who extended the lead for SGE by chipping the ball over FSV goalkeeper Aulbach (22'), and it was 2-0 to Eintracht. Kovac brought on Cetin and Wolf for Chandler and Fernandes after a little over half an hour into the match (35').
Subs and goals
Kovac made three changes for the second half: Zimmermann (GK), Gacinovic and Dadashov came on for Hradecky, Barkok and Haller. Dadashov proved his coach right as he scoreed the third for SGE shortly after (47'). Kamada had set him up, he had a great game anyway with a goal and two asissts.
Then Knothe's attempt from close range after a Besuschkow free-kick was denied by the FSV goalkeeper with a good save (58'). After Gacinovic was brought down in the box the Eagles were awarded a penalty and Max Besuschkow stepped up and coolly finished - 4-0 Eintracht (65'). But FSV got one back when Azaouagh scort with a neat finish leaving Zimmermann without a chance (72').
Luka Jovic also put himself on the scorer sheet and once again Kamada set him up, his third assist of the match (82'). Right after Jovic's goal FSV found the back of the net when Namavizadeh hit home (83'). It was a lively match and the 40,000 were entertained throughout with a final 5-2 score line.
