Paciencia signed for Eintracht from boyhood club Porto in summer 2018. Not long after scoring in his first competitive appearance for the Eagles – a 2-1 defeat to SSV Ulm in the first round of the DFB Cup – the Portuguese striker was ruled out for the rest of the year with a meniscus tear. Two weeks after finally making his Bundesliga debut against Mönchengladbach on 17 February, Paciencia came off the bench to head home a 96th-minute winner in a 3-2 victory over TSG Hoffenheim. The 26-year-old has made 61 appearances in all competitions over the past two seasons, scoring 15 goals.
We wish Goncalo all the best for his time in Gelsenkirchen.

The two-time Portugal international established himself as a first-team regular during the first half of the 2019/20 campaign in particular, earning himself a one-year contract extension through to 2023. The coronavirus pandemic coupled with a muscle injury has limited Paciencia to just two competitive appearances since March.
“Goncalo has shown what he’s made of over the past two years, and his goals have helped us in a lot of games,” said board member Fredi Bobic. “Strikers obviously wants to play as many games as possible, and he thinks that there’s a greater possibility of doing that at Schalke than with us. That’s why the move is a logical one and we wish him all the best for his time in Gelsenkirchen.”
