“Won’t work without confidence”

Oliver Glasner talks Hoffenheim, the weeks ahead and the fun factor.

Oliver Glasner on…

...personnel: “It's remarkable to have the whole squad available at the start of December. Credit to the athletic and medical departments as well as the players for their professional work.”

…his expectations against Hoffenheim: “I'm anticipating an extremely difficult away match. Hoffenheim are playing very well and possess a lot of weapons, particularly in attack. In my eyes, they're challenging for the Champions League places. We also see ourselves in very good form, though. It's going to be an intense game. Both sides transition at rapid speed, which for us is an opportunity and a risk at the same time. We'll find spaces and we want to use them.”

I sense great confidence here in myself, my coaching staff and the playing philosophy. I also have great confidence in my players.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…Eintracht’s recent record against Hoffenheim: “The fact we’ve won the last six games against Hoffenheim doesn’t mean we’ve got the three points in the bag again. By the same token, we shouldn’t have bothered travelling to Munich, for example, and yet we won there for the first time in 20 years.”

…upcoming fixtures: “We always think one game at a time. Right now we're concentrating on Hoffenheim, then Fenerbahce. If it were different, we might not have won in the last minute so often. Christmas is still a long way off – full focus on Hoffenheim!”

…the fun factor: “We always try to find a sensible middle ground. Fun and enjoyment are important, but our most important factor is confidence. I sense great confidence here in myself, my coaching staff and the playing philosophy. I also have great confidence in my players. Without confidence it won’t work.”
