“We’ll happily take a point”

Eintracht were much the happier side after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leipzig. Head coach Adi Hütter was pleased with his team‘s display, particularly in the second half.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “I’m very pleased with the draw and I’ll happily take a point. Leipzig did very well, particularly in the first half. There were a lot of things we didn’t do very well. Leipzig had opportunities in the second half but towards the end I felt we could go on and win the game. Credit to the whole team for how they fought. We’ll train normally on Monday. The players have a day off on Tuesday.”

Credit to Ilse – he played very well, communicated with his team-mates a lot and always stayed positive.

Sporting director Bruno Hübner: “I’m very pleased, we thoroughly deserved the point. In the second half we did really well in the final third and maybe went closest to finding a winner, but a draw is a fair result at the end of the day. Stefan Ilsanker did really well in the first half and really kept things tight in the second. He barely gave anything away and was a terrific replacement for Martin Hinteregger.”

Makoto Hasebe: “We’re happy to go home with a point. We struggled in the first half because we were too deep and gave the ball away too easily, which wasn’t good. In the second half we were braver, more ambitious and started playing better. I’m happy we showed our character after falling behind. Credit to Ilse – he played very well, communicated with his team-mates a lot and always stayed positive.”
