The first-ever Bundesliga outing for Ignacio Ferri Julià – or Nacho for short – in the Eagles’ home game against Freiburg was certainly notable, as it was one of the club’s youth academy graduates who was making the leap. And the youngster did well, according to head coach Dino Toppmöller: “Nacho is someone who, through his size alone, wins headers and is a goal threat. He gave us new life.”
Board member for sport Markus Krösche also praised the promising youngster: “Brilliant! It was a nice thing for him and also for us as a club, having someone from our own academy playing here at Deutsche Bank Park.”
He has a really exciting profile.
Sporting director Timmo Hardung
Sporting director Timmo Hardung said he was “incredibly pleased for him,” adding: “He has a really exciting profile, went for goal twice and was a threat straight away. Nacho has earned that over the years in the academy.”
Following his Bundesliga debut, the debutant stated: “I can only be grateful for the minutes I get. The coach told me I should give everything on the pitch to help the team.”
