“We don’t have to hide”

Kevin Trapp praises Eintracht’s work ethic and the increased pace of their play, and discusses his own future.

Kevin Trapp on…

…the winter training camp: “We’ve had a high volume of intensive sessions. Everyone has come back from the break fit and focused. After training we all look at each other’s exhausted faces, but as soon as we’re back on the pitch, everyone’s fully on it. That’s impressive and a very good sign. Every player is pushing themselves to the limit and has the desire to keep improving and to build on what we achieved as a team in the first half of the season.”

…the team’s objectives: “We’re still in all three competitions and have therefore achieved our target for the first half of the season. That wasn’t just down to luck but the result of a huge amount of quality and good team spirit. We want to continue in exactly the same way now. The objective is to get the most out of it. If that’s only enough for fifth place in the end but we’ve left everything on the pitch, then so be it. We don’t have to hide and we have the players to be very successful.”

I feel very much at home in Frankfurt.

…the resumption of the season: “After a good pre-season in the summer, we were given a good thrashing by Bayern in the opening game. The team are determined to work on the things that we need for the second half of the season. I’m sure the first game against Schalke will turn out differently than the season opener.”

…Eintracht’s new style: “We have even more speed going forward this season. With Mario Götze in particular, we gained a very intelligent player who already knows with his first touch of the ball what he’s going to do with his second, and is brilliant at setting up other players. Then there’s Kolo [Muani], who provides tremendous attacking quality, speed and composure on the ball. In general, the team has become more assured. The technical quality and the desire are there.”

…his contract situation: “I feel very much at home in Frankfurt. Eintracht and I have a good relationship and we’re currently in good talks. We’re taking the time we need, though. I’d like to remain a part of this. We’ve created a good foundation with our success and our fans. What matters to me is that I continue to have the quality to be able to help the team. If we keep enjoying ourselves so much as a team, then I see no reason why we shouldn’t continue together.”
