Following the international break, all the players are gradually returning to Frankfurt to prepare for the upcoming match at SC Freiburg on Sunday (15:30 CET).
The hosts will be a hard nut to crack for the Eagles. Freiburg currently sit in third place in the table and are enjoying the best season in the club’s history to date. Christian Streich’s men stand out in numerous statistics, not least the fact that they boast the best defence in the league with just nine goals conceded.
The Breisgau club are dangerous in attack, too, converting 52 per cent of all their big chances this term. Four of SC’s goals have come from corners – another league high. On top of that, they are unbeaten in nine Bundesliga games at home and only lost for the first time this season at Bayern on Matchday 11.
Good record against top teams
However, Freiburg have often struggled against Eintracht in recent years. The Black Forest outfit have won just one of their last eight Bundesliga meetings with the Hessians, losing four and drawing three. And Eintracht have again proven this season that they often raise their game against the supposedly stronger sides – the Eagles have not lost any of their last seven fixtures against teams who were in the top three going into the game.
