Last game of 2020

Eintracht will be hoping to end their winless run in their final match of the year at FC Augsburg on Saturday.

After a largely strong performance against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Eintracht were pegged back in added time, much to the annoyance of coach Adi Hütter and his players. The Eagles now want to take the fighting spirit and will to win from Tuesday’s match into their trip to Augsburg, and gift themselves with three points six days before Christmas.

Overtaken

The Bavarians were 1-0 winners at Arminia Bielefeld on Wednesday evening, which moved them above Frankfurt into ninth place, two points and one goal better off than the Hessians.

Saturday’s meeting will be the 17th Bundesliga fixture involving the two sides. Eintracht were beaten 2-1 on their last visit to the WWK Arena, while FCA also lead in the overall head-to-head record in Germany’s top flight, with seven wins to four. The points have been shared on five occasions.

Eagles duo back on old stomping ground

For Eintracht duo Martin Hinteregger and Dominik Kohr, it will be a special return to their former club. Hinteregger plied his trade for Augsburg from 2016 until January 2019, when he joined Eintracht on loan for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign before signing permanently in the summer. Likewise, Kohr wore the FCA jersey from 2014 to 2017, but both men will be doing all they can to make it a happy return on Saturday afternoon – ideally with a first win in nine games to take into the New Year.
