Fellow Austrians Angerschmid and Glasner have shared plenty of common ground over the years. Both of them played at SV Ried in their homeland, where Angerschmid went on to be interim and then assistant coach while Glasner was still a player. In 2014, Glasner took over as coach of the club from Angerschmid. The following year, they were again reunited, this time at LASK, and have worked together ever since.

Angerschmid spent four years at Linz club LASK and another two at VfL Wolfsburg as assistant coach to Glasner, with the pair of them overseeing some 250 matches during this period. With Glasner and Angerschmid at the helm, LASK qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the first time, while Wolfsburg made it through to the UEFA Champions League after a five-year hiatus, courtesy of their fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season.
