Match Preview: Eagles v Blues

Possible line-ups, facts, figures and stats around the home game v Schalke 04 on Saturday (kick off at 15.30h CET).

Last season: Both games were lost to Schalke 04 in the 2009/10 season (1-4 at home, 0-2 away to Schalke). The last Eintracht win was a 3-0 at home in 2003/04 (goals from Ioannis Amanatidis, Ervin Skela and Alexander Schur).

All time record: It’s the 75th Bundesliga meeting of the two (so far 27 wins, 18 draws, 29 defeats for the Eagles). At home Eintracht won 21, drew 5 and lost 11 against S04.

Blast from the past: Eintracht manager Skibbe was born in Gelsenkirchen (the home of Schalke) and played 14 Bundesliga games for them including a 3-0 defeat away to Frankfurt. Halil Altintop too was born in the area and also played for Saturday’s opponent, as have second goalie Faehrmann and long term injured Baijramovic. Schalke manager Felix Magath had a spell as head coach at Frankfurt (1999-2001) and their defensive midfielder Jermaine Jones was once the captain of the Eagles.
