Match Preview and Interview with Manager Skibbe

Eintracht will try and achieve the ‘impossible’ on Saturday (15.30h CET): to collect points at the ‘Allianz Arena’ in Munich from the away game to Bayern.

INTERVIEW WITH MANAGER MICHAEL SKIBBE

Mr Skibbe, Benjamin Koehler is not 100% fit, how is he?
He got slightly injured within the last minutes of yesterday’s training session. But it doesn’t look too bad and I’m positive that he will play on Saturday.

Is there a backup plan if Koehler won’t be able to play? Who will then play as the left defender?
No, there is no backup plan as such.

Will Alexander Meier return to the squad after overcoming his injury?
Yes, and he will play.

Are the games against Bayern the easiest as one has got nothing to lose?
No, I don’t think so. It will be a very tough game though not much more difficult than any other Bundesliga match. You have to prove yourself in every single game. It is our goal to bring back a point from Munich.

What kind of improvements are needed compared to the Hoffenheim game?
We rather look at the many good games we had so far.

Aleks Vasoski and Ricardo Clark did not get many appearances so far, do you have faith in them?
Both give their all in training, they train like all the other players. I fully trust them both.

Backflash

Last season Eintracht lost 2-1 away to Bayern after Alexander Meier had scored the lead in minute 60. At home the Eagles managed a last minute 2-1 win, the late goals came within the last four minutes of the game from Tsoumou and Fenin.

All Time Record

40 times Bayern hosted Eintracht in Bundesliga. The Bavarians won 31 of the games, Eintracht only three. The last away win in Munich was pretty much exactly ten years ago, during the 2-1 win in 2000/01 two Eintracht legends scored: Alexander Schur and Jan-Aage Fjoertoft.
