Marcel Wenig to join from Bayern

The 17-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder will join Eintracht on a contract valid from next season until 30 June 2025.

Eintracht Frankfurt are pressing ahead with their plans for the future after convincing highly rated attacking midfielder Marcel Wenig to sign for the club. Wenig, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of this season, will join on a free transfer and sign a long-term professional contract through to 30 June 2025.

The 17-year-old has scored four goals in 17 appearances for Bayern’s U19s this season, as well as one goal in three appearances for the U23s in the Bavarian Regional League. Wenig took part in some of the first-team’s pre-season preparations last summer, appearing in friendlies against Ajax and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

At his age, Marcel is obviously just at the start of his development in the men’s game, which is why we’re going to manage him carefully.

The Nuremberg native will take his first steps with the Eintracht first team this summer. “In Marcel Wenig, we’ve signed a hugely promising German midfielder,” said board member for sport Marcel Krösche. “He’s received the best possible education at Bayern Munich in the last five years and we want to build on that. At his age, Marcel is obviously just at the start of his development in the men’s game, which is why we’re going to manage him carefully.”
