Mainz travel to Frankfurt

On matchday 15 1. FSV Mainz 05 make a short trip north where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank arena. Just four points and three places divide the two sides coming into Saturday's game.

Mainz are currently in an impressive run of form and haven't been beaten since their 0-1 defeat at the hands of Köln on matchday nine. Meanwhile Frankfurt will take confidence from their 3-1 victory over Hertha last week after two successive defeats.

History against the visitors

The two sides have met 13 times competitively and Mainz have only managed to win on one occasion; that came over six and a half years ago. However the visitors will be ignoring the history books on Saturday as they hope to continue their good run of form in the Bundesliga.

Mainz are currently the best promoted side in the league having amassed an impressive 23 points from their 14 games so far. Jörn Andersen's side also have high profile scalps to their name in the form of Bayern and Hoffenheim, but will also be spurred on by draws with Leverkusen and more recently Hamburger SV.

Looking for wins

Despite having not kept a clean sheet at home in the league for almost exactly a year, Michael Skibbe's team are looking for a turnaround in form. They showed what they are capable last week against struggling Hertha but are yet to prove themselves against the bigger clubs.

Three points for the home side on Saturday could see them move up as far as two places and more importantly into the top half of the table. Points for Mainz will reaffirm their desire for European football next year and will keep the pressure on the teams at the top.

Likely line ups:

Eintracht Frankfurt: Nikolov - Franz, Chris, Russ, Spycher - Bajramovic - P. Ochs, Schwegler, Meier, Korkmaz - Liberopoulos

Mainz 05: H. Müller - Hoogland, Bungert, Noveski, F. Heller - Karhan, Soto, Schürrle, Ivanschitz, Amri - Bance
