Lucky Punch by Idrissou!

Eintracht bagged three important points away to Erzgebirge Aue after Idrissou scored the winner with less than five minutes to go (86'). Hoffer had opened the score (40') and Aue's König had equalized shortly after (45'). It was a tight match with a somewhat lucky ending for the Eagles.

Erwin Hoffer started instead of Theofanis Gekas this time - the only change to last week's Eintracht line up made by manager Armin Veh. 8,600 at the Sparkassen-Erzgebirgsstadion - around 1,300 Eintracht supporters among them - saw a first half hour with little highlights on either side, the match was dominated by errors and shortcomings. Early shots by Aue's Kempe (5') and Eintracht's Hoffer (6') were followed by an uneventful period in which neither team managed to get hold of the match.

Eintracht took the lead from their very first decent attack, via Idrissou, Köhler and Jung the ball found its way to Rode who set up Hoffer in the five yard box. The Austrian scored his fourth goal of the season (40'). And he could have added to the lead minutes later but Aue keeper Männel saved his shot from close range (42'). Instead the hosts came back to equalise in the dying moments of the first half when König was at the end of a Hochscheidt cross and headed in (45').

The 1-1 seemed to have given Aue a boost as they had a much better start to the second half. Kocer and König had shots saved by Nikolov, Hochscheidt hit the post (60'). Eintracht still struggled to control Aue and had only half chances by Djakpa (52') and Idrissou (58', 68'). Then Rode was through on goal but the last defender Adil Lachheb brought him down and was consequently sent off (74').

Gekas and Matmour came on to strengthen the attack but the hosts were putting in great efforts and passion against the Eagles who were now dominant but still lacking decisive scoring opportunities. With only four minutes to go a clearance by Aue defender Paulus was defelected and fell to Idrissou who converted from close range (86'). It was a lucky punch at the end of a tough match in which Eintracht struggled throughout to put their quality onto the pitch. But the win moves them up to the second spot in the standings, two points behind Düsseldorf.

After the international break the Eagles will play the home match against Alemannia Aachen (20/11/2011 at 13.30h CET).
