Lucas Alario bolsters Eintracht’s strikeforce

The Argentinian forward joins from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on a contract valid until 2025.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have reached an agreement over the transfer of Lucas Alario. The centre forward has signed a deal valid until 30 June 2025 in Frankfurt, having previously registered 58 goals and 16 assists in 164 appearances during his five-year stay in Leverkusen.

In the Bundesliga, Alario has scored 42 times in 126 outings, giving the 29-year-old an average ratio of exactly one goal every three games. The same is true in the Argentina national team, where he has hit the target three times in nine matches since making his debut in 2016.

The Tostado native previously laced his boots for Club Atlético Colón and River Plate before moving to Europe. His greatest achievement to date was with the latter, the record champions in his homeland, whom he helped win the 2015 Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the UEFA Champions League.

“Lucas Alario has a great deal of experience and has proved himself to be a real team player in Leverkusen,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “Over the last few years he’s regularly demonstrated his prowess in front of goal, and he is already familiar with the Bundesliga. With Lucas in attack, we’re well equipped for the challenges ahead in the new season.”
