Fitness boost ahead of Leipzig trip

Head coach Dino Toppmöller had 27 players to choose from as the Eagles started their preparations for the DFB Cup first round, with only Dina Ebimbe absent due to illness.

Eintracht began their preparations for the DFB Cup tie at fourth-tier 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig on Sunday 13 August with an intensive training session on Wednesday morning. Twenty-four outfield players and three goalkeepers were involved, with only Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe absent due to illness.

Anti-doping and referee courses at the ProfiCamp

After the session the players made their way back to the ProfiCamp at Deutsche Bank Park. The Eagles squad will be spending time in the classroom on Wednesday afternoon, with anti-doping and referee courses on the agenda.

“We’ve already made pretty good progress if our training sessions are anything to go by, but it’s difficult to judge until the season gets under way,” Kevin Trapp told EintrachtTV. “It’s going to be a heated contest [on Sunday]. We know what to expect in Leipzig and we need to prepare ourselves mentally. We have to make sure we don’t let anything pass us by and win the game – that’s what it’s about. It’s all up to us.”

The Eagles squad will train once a day over the next few days before setting off for Leipzig on Saturday afternoon.

Lucas Alario back in Frankfurt

He has yet to return to training, but Lucas Alario is back in the heart of Europe. The striker underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in his native Argentina at the end of last season and has been working his way back to fitness in his homeland.
