Late Deliverance - Still Unbeaten!

The Eagles remain unbeaten this season after today's 3-3 draw away to Energie Cottbus. Goals were scored by Friend (66'), Korkmaz (72') and Idrissou (89') for Eintracht and Rangelov (10', 50') and Adlung (70') for Energie.

After a tense match Eintracht came back from being 2-0 down against Energie Cottbus to gain a 3-3 away draw. The two new Eagles Friend and Idrissou both scored, Korkmaz netted in between. 13,500 (including around 2,000 Eintracht supporters) saw an entertaining match with a late Idrissou equaliser.

Both Rob Friend and Mo Idrissou were in the starting line-up, Schwegler stayed at home with a back injury and Gekas was on the bench, Köhler moved back to defensive midfield. Martin Fenin - transferred last minute from Frankfurt to Cottbus - started for FC Energie.

Cottbus dominated the opening 20 minutes and scored early on when Rangelov converted an Adlung pass after only 10 minutes. They had a couple of chances shortly after but Müller and again Rangelov did not find the back of the net. Eintracht struggled to get hold of the match, they tried their luck with crosses towards the tall forwards but hardly any chances were created. Veh reacted with an early substitution when he replaced Lehmann with Matmour after 36 minutes. But Energie was closer to scoring the second and so the half time whistle was good news for the Eagles.

Eintracht manager Veh brought on Korkmaz for Djakpa after the break, Idrissou moved back to the left defender's position. But five minutes into the second half it was Rangelov again who converted a Müller cross to extend the host's lead (50'). Rangelov has now scored 7 goals in 4 games against Eintracht. It took the Eagles a while to digest the 2-0 but of the blue they managed to get one back. Köhler crossed in a free-kick from the half way line and Rob Friend was at the end of it heading in his first goal for Eintracht (66').

But only four minutes later Energie added another to make it 3-1 when Adlung scored from 15 meters after a fast break (70'). Still Eintracht kept their belief and did not give up. After a swift passage of play via Meier and Rode the ball ended up with Idrissou who neatly crossed it in, Korkmaz headed in (72').

And the Eagles kept going, building up the pressure and creating chances. The late reward came when again Köhler took a long a free-kick towards the Cottbus box and Idrissou headed in (89'). Three headed goals including two of the new signings Friend and Idrissou helped Eintracht maintaining their unbeaten run after seven matchdays.

Ahead of Sunday's games Eintracht are now ranked 5th having gained 13 points. Coming up is the home match against Hansa Rostock next Friday at 18h CET.
