Just as they did in the 1-0 victory against Lithuania, Serbia started the match in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Kostic, who was named in the starting XI on Friday evening, was forced to settle for a place on the bench on this occasion, with Dusan Tadic moving to the left flank in place of the 25-year-old. Serbia head coach Mladen Krstajic decided to introduce the Eagles star in the 63rd minute, but the summer signing was unable to prevent his side from relinquishing their 2-1 lead just five minutes later.
Elsewhere, Frederik Rönnow was included in the Denmark squad that beat Wales 2-0 on Sunday evening, but the Eintracht goalkeeper did not make an appearance.
Two other Eagles players are hoping to end their international break on a high on Tuesday: Taleb Tawatha's Israel visit Northern Ireland for a friendly (kick-off 20:45 CEST), while Luka Jovic will look to help Serbia's Under-21s overcome Russia in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying (kick-off 19:00 CEST).
