What a year it has been for Randal Kolo Muani! In his debut season in Germany, the striker has managed to become a regular starter for Eintracht Frankfurt. And on Friday the 24-year-old was announced in another Best XI too, namely the Bundesliga Team of the Season – presented by EA SPORTS.
It is a particularly welcome recognition for the Frenchman, who earned a runners-up medal at last year’s FIFA World Cup, because 40 percent of the final result was determined by fans’ votes. Another 30 percent was decided by the captains of all 18 top-flight clubs and the remaining 30 percent by a panel of experts comprised of Bundesliga legends and selected media representatives.
This year’s Bundesliga Team of the Season
There was fierce competition for places for a spot in the side, given the 40-man shortlist. In attack alone, Kolo Muani finished ahead of compatriot Marcus Thuram, Sheraldo Becker, Christopher Nkunku, Mergim Berisha, Karim Onisiwo, Dodi Lukebakio and Florian Wirtz.
The 1.87-metre forward has made 28 starts across the 31 Bundesliga matchdays so far this season, with one additional appearance off the bench. He is second in the division both for goals scored (13) and assists (10). With a top speed of 35.97 km/h, Kolo Muani is the eighth-fastest player in Germany’s top flight this term.
