Kolo Muani makes France debut

Les Bleus celebrated their first Nations League victory with an Eagle in their midst, while Marcel Wenig also featured in a comfortable win.

22 September 2022 is a date that Randal Kolo Muani will likely never forget. On Thursday night, the Eintracht striker made his debut for France in Group A of the UEFA Nations League at home to Austria, with his country looking to avoid an early exit from League A. The French ran out 2-0 winners on the night thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé (56’) and Olivier Giroud (65’).

In the second minute of time added on, Mbappé made way for the Eagles’ current top scorer for what was a very brief appearance, but nevertheless it represented his international debut. Kolo Muani will be hoping for more game time on Sunday when third-placed France take on Denmark.

Marcel Wenig was in action on Wednesday for Germany U19 in the opening round of qualifying for the U19 EURO, which takes place in Malta next year. The German youngsters hosted Armenia in Gifhorn and cruised to a 5-0 win, with Wenig coming on in the 82nd minute for Daniel Bunk. Next up for Germany is a home match against Belarus on Saturday.
