Koch nominated

Eintracht defender Robin Koch has been shortlisted for the Bundesliga’s April Player of the Month award.

His main job is defending, but Frankfurt’s leader at the back, Robin Koch, also demonstrated his goalscoring prowess last month. Two of his three Bundesliga goals this season came in April, first against Heidenheim and then against Leipzig – both on home turf at Deutsche Bank Park. “The ball fell straight to my feet and I finished with composure like a striker,” said the 28-year-old with a grin after his strike against Heidenheim.

Koch would certainly also be delighted to receive the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for April, the search for which began today.

Voting is open until 23:59 CEST on Sunday 11 May. This season, the vote is again conducted and weighted following a special procedure, with fan votes making up 40 percent, club votes 30 percent and expert votes 30 percent.

Alongside Koch in the running are Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich of FC Bayern Munich, Mitchell Weiser of SV Werder Bremen, Ritsu Doan of SC Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund’s Waldemar Anton.
