Kevin Trapp named new Eintracht Frankfurt captain

The goalkeeper takes over from Sebastian Rode as skipper, with Robin Koch and Mario Götze as vice captains.

Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller has confirmed that long-term first-choice goalkeeper Kevin Trapp is the new team captain, with Robin Koch and Mario Götze named a vice captains.

Toppmöller: “Kevin Trapp is a real leader for us and has played an important role in Eintracht’s development in recent years. Kevin not only leads the way on the pitch with his performances, but also through his attitude and the way he carries himself. He has shown his leadership skills even without wearing the captain’s armband. The same goes for Robin Koch and Mario Götze, who will join Kevin in the captain’s team with immediate effect.”

It's an honour for me to be captain of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kevin Trapp: “It's an honour for me to be captain of Eintracht Frankfurt and to follow in the footsteps of Sebastian Rode and David Abraham, who did an exemplary job for many years. I watched and learned a lot from them. It’s an extra incentive for me to be successful together with my team-mates, the club and the fans.”
