“It could still be a very important point”

Head coach Oliver Glasner, Timothy Chandler and goalscorer Goncalo Paciencia were eager to take the positives and learn their lessons from the 2-2 draw against Royal Antwerp.

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “I’ve got mixed feelings. Of course I’m pleased that we came from behind late on. You could tell that we really wanted to win the game. We had a good first half but then conceded an avoidable equaliser. In the second half we weren’t quite as fluid and got impatient, gave the ball away too cheaply a few times and it became frantic. The fact that we don’t give up and keep going forward has set us apart all season. I had the feeling we’d still come back. It could still be a very important point.”

Timothy Chandler: “It’s a shame we couldn’t clinch first place in the group. We’ll just have to do it in Istanbul. I’m convinced we can do it. In the first half we were firmly in the game, played good football but were too hesitant in front of goal because we kept wanting to lay the ball off one more time. It was an open game in the second half. The late equaliser was important for us mentally, because we put a lot into the game and were at least partially rewarded for it.”

Goncalo Paciencia: “I felt good – better than I did before my injury. My aim is always to help the team and thankfully I was able to do that today. We played well in the first half. Antwerp have a lot of quality, which you could see in the second half in particular. We showed character, though, and fought until the final second.”
