Kamada on target for Japan

Daichi Kamada continued his club form on the international stage; Smolcic, Alidou and Knauff got plenty of game time; while Trapp had to sit on the bench.

Japan’s friendly with USA saw the Samurai Blue pick up a 2-0 victory in Dusseldorf. Daichi Kamada was in the starting line-up and scored the opener after 24 minutes in what was a well-deserved win for Japan.

In qualifying for the U21 EURO, Hrvoje Smolcic’s Croatia picked up a crucial 2-1 win over Denmark in Pula, giving them a chance of making it through to next year’s tournament in Malta. Smolcic played the full 90 minutes in the victory.

Faride Alidou and Ansgar Knauff were also in the starting XI for Germany's U21, who played a friendly in Magdeburg against France. Both of them were substituted off in the 62nd  minute of the match which the French won 1-0.

Kevin Trapp, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Germany in the 1-0 defeat to Hungary in Leipzig.
