Jovic's semi-final strike at Schalke voted April Goal of the Month

Luka Jovic's stunning, flicked finish in Eintracht Frankfurt's 1-0 DFB Cup semi-final win at FC Schalke 04 has been voted as Germany's Goal of the Month for April.

Jovic's goal – helped into the far corner with his backheel from Jonathan de Guzman's inswinging corner – won't just be remembered for its undoubted beauty, either. The expert finish will also go down in club legend for securing the Eagles a DFB Cup final berth for the second straight year, explaining the wild celebrations it sparked in the away end at Schalke's Veltins-Arena.

A decade-long wait

Prior to this season, it had been almost ten years since a Frankfurt player won ARD Sportschau's Goal of the Month award. Back then it was Michael Fink for his January 2008 overhead kick against SC Paderborn 07. This term, however, two have come along in quick succession: first Sebastien Haller, who won the September 2017 prize for his acrobatic effort against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, and then Jovic, whose flicked finish in the DFB Cup semi-final triumph at Schalke was voted as April 2018 Goal of the Month by football fans across Germany. Congratulations, Luka!
