“It was a huge effort”

Adi Hütter and his players are proud of the win against Bayern.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “There were two completely different halves. After the break we were more defensive and didn’t press as high. We saw what a class act Bayern are. We earned the win but also had a bit of luck. To be only seven points behind Bayern and to have only lost twice after 22 matchdays is fantastic. We’re happy that we’ve beaten this world-class team. We’ve picked up 29 of a possible 33 points in the last 11 matches. I hope we can stay in this flow. The win gives us energy, power and confidence.”

Amin Younes: “We played fantastically in the first half and did a lot of things right. After the break it was harder, it was a huge effort. Bayern put us under a lot of pressure. It’s difficult to be superior to them over 90 minutes. Technical quality and fighting spirit are both required to get the better of Bayern, so great credit to the team. For the celebration with the Hanau shirt, it was an important message that we don’t forget those events.”

Tuta: “We’re very pleased about the win and our performance against the hardest possible opponents. We wanted to continue our run even against Bayern and stay among the top group in the table. We achieved that thanks to hard work. We’re happy and we should be proud of ourselves too.”
