Jay-Jay Okocha joins Bundesliga Legends Network

Former Eagle Jay-Jay Okocha has become the latest addition to the Bundesliga Legends Network.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt player Jay-Jay Okocha has been given the honour of joining the DFL's Bundesliga Legends Network. The Nigerian, who delighted Eintracht fans in the early 1990s, is the 11th former Bundesliga star to join the Bundesliga Legends as a global Bundesliga brand ambassador. Its aim is to get fans all over the world excited about German football.

The Bundesliga Legends are deployed primarily in their home countries and in places where they have a strong connection as a result of the various stages of their careers. As the faces of the Bundesliga, the former players visit fan and media events in key international target markets. They also act as coaches at football camps or as pundits for international television broadcasters as well as attending partner events.
Okocha thrilled fans in the early 90s with his spectacular playing style. His solo goal against the then Karlsruher goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, which was named Goal of the Year in 1993, is the stuff of legend. In total the midfield playmaker made 90 appearances for Eintracht, scoring 18 goals. Okocha is delighted by his role as a Bundesliga Legend: "It was a great honour for me to play in the Bundesliga. I'm exceptionally proud to be able to represent this tremendous league."

The 44 year-old, who was part of the Nigeria team that won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics, will visit Johannesburg in his first official engagement. He will be travelling around South Africa as part of the Bundesliga Legends Tour from 15-18 March 2018. Okocha's fellow members of the Bundesliga Legends Network are Lothar Matthäus, Paulo Sergio, Pavel Pardo, Wynton Rufer, Jörg Albertz, Bum-Kun Cha, Anthony Baffoe, Jiayi Shao, Yasuhiko Okudera and Steven Cherundolo.
