International wins for Eintracht stars Salcedo, Jovic and Barkok

Several Eintracht stars featured for their countries on Monday and Tuesday as the international action drew to a close for 2017.

Five of Eintracht's international players were involved in their nations' final games of the year on Monday and Tuesday, with four of them avoiding defeat.

Eintracht defender Carlos Salcedo played the first 45 minutes as Mexico claimed a narrow 1-0 win in Poland on Monday, Raul Jimenez scoring the only goal of the game in the 13th minute. For his part, Makoto Hasebe was an unused substitute in Japan’s friendly in Belgium, a game that ended 1-0 to the hosts thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s 72th-minute strike.

Mijat Gacinovic and Serbia were also on their travels, drawing 1-1 in a friendly in South Korea. Adem Ljajic gave the Serbians the lead in the 59th minute but Augsburg's Ja-Cheol Koo equalised just four minutes later. Eintracht midfielder Gacinovic played the final quarter of the match. Serbia’s U-21 side went one better, making it five wins from five UEFA European Championship qualifiers on Tuesday evening with victory against Armenia. Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic played the whole match, with teammate Aleksandar Lutovac scoring the game’s only goal.

Elsewhere, Aymen Barkok and the Germany U-20s overcame England by a 2-1 scoreline thanks to a first-half brace from Johannes Eggestein. Eintracht youngster Barkok was a 72nd-minute substitute.
